I first read C.S. Lewis’ The Problem of Pain while working on a purse seiner in Southeast Alaska in 1998. It made a big impression on me and to this day - 25 years later, after 22 years of marriage, eight surviving children and 13 years of coffinmaking - it remains the best book I have ever read on suffering. Beyond that, it provides a masterfully accessible point of engagement with the profundities of Christian faith.
Many thanks to Dr. Larry Chapp for so generously helping me, a theological, technological and media Lightweight, in my attempt to entice everyone to read this book.
